OTR Wheel Engineering can assist its OEM customers to locate or design the wheel and/or tire/wheel assembly you need for your equipment application.  With our Global supply chain we can either source the product you need from foreign suppliers or domestically at competitive prices from the best source.  Our New Product Development team travels around the world frequently visting with and qualifying potential suppliers.

Naturally if you already have the tire you are using or planning to use selected; and you have a wheel your are currently using, please send us a drawing for the wheel and we can proceed right away on selecting or sourcing an OTR Wheel Engineering product for you. If not, and we are starting from the beginning and designing from the ground up, please see below for more information. Our Engineering staff will need as much information as they can get to make sure we are able to supply you the correct tire/wheel solution for your equipment.

Information we will need to assist you

In order to help us, HELP YOU THE CUSTOMER, get the correct wheel for your machine or application, we need to get the correct information from you about the wheel you require.

If you don't have a drawing, please use the one of the Wheel Specification Data Sheets available in our Downloads section of the website to record the information. The more information you can supply us the better to determine what wheel you need and if we have that information in our drawing and cross reference databases.

1. What is the type of machine you need the wheel and/or tire/wheel assembly for?

  1. What is the equipment application or use?
  2. What is the Gross Vehicle weight under load?  If you don’t know please give us a close estimate.
  3. How much load carrying capacity for each of the wheels and/or tire/wheel assemblies do you require?
  4. What will be the maximum and minimum speed for your equipment be under load?
  5. What kind of operating conditions will your equipment be operating in?  Dirt?  Mud? Aggregrate? Hard surface?  Grade of inclines or slopes operating on?

2. When specifying or designing a new wheel we always start with the tire.  The tire is the crucial to determining what rim profile or design we must use to make the wheel.

  1. Have you selected a tire you want to use?  Or do you need some assistance?
  2. Do you require a pneumatic tire or will a solid tire be more suitable?
  3. Have you seen the type of tire you want to use on someone else’s equipment you would like to duplicate?
  4. Do you have a tread design specified for the equipment application?
  5. How much air pressure do you plan to operate with?
  6. What Ply Rating orêRating for the tire do you require?
  7. Will you require any flat proofing such as foam fill or Tireliner.
  8. If a pneumatic tire, would you require any ballast like calcium chloride fill?

3. Is there an off the shelf wheel we can use?

4. If there is no off the shelf wheel you are aware of, we need to specify the wheel from scratch to see if OTR has something similar we can start with.

5. Do you have a hub drawing you can send us?

6. Wheel specs required:

  1. How many bolt holes are there?
  2. What is the Bolt Circle (BC) size?
  3. Are the bolt holes chamfered or are they straight?
  4. What is the wheel offset? If you don’t know that do you have a maximum width to the outside of the tires we need to consider?
  5. Do you know the tracking width you must have?
  6. Where do you need the valve in the wheel?
  7. Have you selected valve hardware to use?
  8. Does the wheel require a valve guard?
  9. Are there any other items required on the wheel not already described such as bead reinforcements, etc.?
  10. What color paint do you want? Are they specific paint requirements, if so please send those.
  11. Do you want your wheel primer coated? Do you want any special rust preventative treatments such as E-coat, epoxy.
  12. Packaging and handling requirements
    1. OTR normally ships products on non-returnable pallets.  If you have any special pallet requirements such as heat treated pallets that can be accommodated as well with an additional charge for the cost of sourcing the heat treated pallets for your order.
    2. Special packaging requirements can be accommodated, however those packaging requirements may require additional packaging and handling charges to be applied to the order.
  13. Shipping
    1. OTR Wheel Engineering’s standard Freight Policy is to make all shipments Freight Collect on the customer’s freight carrier of choice.
    2. Other arrangements can be made for shipping freight such as putting freight charges on your order as a Prepaid and Add.
    3. We utilize package delivery services such as the U.S. Mail, UPS and Federal Express.
    4. For export orders, we can load your shipping containers at our loading dock.
